"Boom Bye Bye"

Many people view Jamaica as an island that consists of miles and miles of sandy white beaches; a place to retreat to for a laid back relaxing sanctuary. All is true for heterosexuals anyway, but gays and lesbians, fear much worse and are often targeted simply because of their sexual preferences.

Targeted may be an understatement when compared to the numerous accounts on file about gays and lesbians being brutally attacked and/or killed without reasoning. Amnesty International and the Human Rights Watch have published detailed accounts of machete-wielding mobs that have broken into private residences attacking men believed to be gay and lesbians who have been raped, determined to "cure" them. The island's gay rights organization (Jamaica's Forum for Lesbians, All-Sexuals and Gays (J-Flag), also notes that between the years of 2006-2008, there was an increase of reports of homosexuals being chased, chopped, beaten, raped and shot. Unfortunately, when authorities were called 9 times out of 10, not only were the laws not being executed but many were believed to be participating.

The most opinionated view, on the subject of homosexuality, is the Church and being gay or lesbian is looked upon as a sin. I'm quite sure we have all heard the famous saying "God made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve." Many Jamaicans feel that it's immoral to be be homosexual and the truth of the matter is, many homosexuals don't even have the Church to look to when out casted by all others.

All forms of violence against gays and lesbians have been celebrated in dance hall music and have been dubbed as "Murder Music" in other countries. Many Jamaicans, especially musical artists, have publicly denounced homosexuality in their music. Buju Banton is notorious for his anti-homosexual songs, often sprouting lyrics such as "Boom Bye Bye in a batty boy head," that has become the theme song for angry mob attacks.

With that said many Homosexuals find themselves fleeing to foreign countries (if they are able to afford it) to escape the harassment and to live without the fear. But the question remains; once you've escaped, can you ever return? Not if you have been outed like the case most recently involving Terry McMillan's ex-husband, Johnathan Plummer. The divorce decree stated they were divorcing because Jonathan was gay. With this information accessible to the public, Johnathan has yet to return home for fear of attack once foot touches land sand. 33 year old Plummer, is currently living an openly "gay" life with his new beau in the states, and ISN'T "Waiting to Exhale!"

Personally, I am NOT homophobic. I don't judge because of their sexual preferences. Its a free country and you need to do you cause I d*mn sure does me. As long as no one is being harmed or forced to participate in anything unwillingly, what goes on in someone else's house is there own business. I mean sh*t, I [hearts] a good mean piece of thick, extra long, "PEPPERONI" and....WHEW! **Wipes sweat off forehead, reminiscing from flashback** Just live and let live. Life is extremely too short to be worrying about what the next person is doing.

Friday the 13th: We FALL down, but we get UP

Move over Chris Brown...Gospel artist BeBe Winans wants some of the lime light! Mr. Winans was booked yesterday on a domestic assault rap for allegedly pushing his ex-wife to the ground during an argument last month. BeBe, 46, and his former spouse got into a “verbal altercation” on February 13 (which was the first of three Friday the 13ths in 2009; maybe that day really is bad luck) about “custody issues dealing with their children.”

During the incident in question, "Mr. Sunday's Best" was at his ex-wife Debra’s Nashville home, where he'd driven to pick up his children. She was telling Mr. Winans of problems with the kids, when he all of a sudden became enraged shoving her to the concrete. Winans was arrested yesterday on a misdemeanor domestic assault charge and was briefly held at the Davidson County
jail before posting $1000 bond (Pictured Right). BeBe, best known for albums recorded with his sister CeCe, has won four Grammy awards and is more recently known for his role as a celebrity judge on the second season of  BET's hit show "Sunday Best" where contestants line up all across America to try out to become the next big gospel artist.
Maybe after all of this he will need to get on his knees and repent to ensure his spot in "HEAVEN". Just in case he needs a little spiritual guidance in the "MEANTIME," I'll holla at Jesus my d*mn self because God knows I'm shocked about this one here!!! CLICK HERE to read the court rulings!

www.OverIt.com/Chrihanna

Is this even really a surprise? Chrihanna back on again? Yes indeedy folks! Two Felony charges and another court date set for April 6th apparently is not enough to convince Rihanna that she needs to "Take a Bow" and leave while she can. The Barbados-native has yet to make any statements concerning this relationship but her lawyer, who spoke on her behalf at the court proceedings last Thursday, reportedly told the judge that "Ms. Breakin' Dishes" did not wish to request a "no-contact order"; talk about Disturbia. I'm guessing I speak for most when I say Who Cares? Not I....she isn't the only big head Bajan, or female for that matter, to have gotten molly whooped!

Although I don't condone domestic violence, it is just waaaaaaaay too much media attention surrounding this story. Er'body talking about how they aren't playing his songs anymore...wanting to protest him and what-not...for what? At the end of the day his music speaks for itself he is a very talented young, black brother who just so happened to get his "wifebeatin'" exposed! Justice will be served and I'm quite sure he'll be fined and is/will be doing some type of community service because with all those coinz he's racked up over the last couple of years, he isn't serving not one day in the slammer. And to top it off, its rumored that Chris and Rihanna are not only back together they are engaged as well. SMH....see what I mean? Sh*t, I didn't stop listening to R. Kelly and his bee-lack ass is a "Chester"!!! At the end of the day good music is just that good mutha'effin music, and I still have a mean two step er'time I hear the Doublemint commercial. (singing, "double your pleasure, double your fun...it's the right time...LMAO)
